WedonotknowwhatwerethelastlinesthatLambhadsenttoColeridge.ThelinestoCowperwereprintedintheMonthlyMagazineforDecember,1796.

ColeridgesPoemswerereviewedintheMonthlyReview,June,1796,withnomentionofLamb.TheCriticalReviewforthesamemonthsaidofLambseffusions:"Theseareverybeautiful."

Burgers"Leonora,"whichwastohavesuchaninfluenceuponEnglishliterature(itwasthefoundationofmuchofSirWalterScottspoetry),wastranslatedfromtheGermanbyWilliamTaylorofNorwichin1790andprintedintheMonthlyMagazineinMarch,1796.Scottatoncemadearivalversion.Theotherfinesong,intheAprilMonthlyMagazine,was"TheLassofFairWone."

ThementionoftheStatutedeContumeliaseemstorefertothe"LinesComposedinaConcert-Room,"whichwerefirstprintedintheMorningPost,September24,1799,butmusthavebeenwrittenearlier.MadameMara(1749-1833)isnotmentionedbynameinthepoem,butbeingoneoftheprincipalsingersofthedayLambprobablyfastenedtheepithetuponherbywayofpleasantry;orshemayhavebeenreferredtointheversionofthelineswhichLambhadseen.

ThepassageaboutMr.Chambersisnotnowexplicable;butweknowthatMrs.ReynoldswasLambsschoolmistress,probablywhenhewasverysmall,andbeforehewenttoWilliamBirdsAcademy,andthatinlaterlifeheallowedherapensionof£30ayearuntilherdeath.

Betweenthisandthenextlettercame,inallprobability,anumberofletterstoColeridgewhichhavebeenlost.ItisincrediblethatLambkeptsilence,atthisperiod,forelevenweeks.]
