Istaredwithwildwondermenttoseethywell-knownhandagain.Itrevivedmanyapleasingrecollectionofanepistolaryintercourse，oflatestrangelysuspended，oncetheprideofmylife.BeforeIevenopenedthyletter，Ifiguredtomyselfasortofplacencywhichmylittlehoardathomewouldfeelatreceivingthenew-erintothelittledrawerwhereIkeepmytreasuresofthiskind.Youhavedonewellinwritingtome.Thelittleroom（wasitnotalittleone?）attheSalutationwasalreadyinthewayofbeingafadingidea!ithadbeguntobeclassedinmymemorywiththose"wanderingswithafairhairdmaid，"intherecollectionofwhichIfeelIhavenoproperty.Youpressme，verykindlydoyoupressme，toetoStowey;obstacles，strongasdeath，preventmeatpresent;maybeIshallbeabletoebeforetheyearisout;believeme，IwilleassoonasIcan，butIdreadnamingaprobabletime.Itdependsonfiftythings，besidestheexpense，whichisnotnothing.Lloydwantsmetoeandseehim;but，besidesthatyouhaveapriorclaimonme，Ishouldnotfeelmyselfsomuchathomewithhim，tillhegetsahouseofhisown.AstoRichardson，capricemaygrantwhatcapriceonlyrefused，anditisnomorehardship，rightlyconsidered，tobedependentonhimforpleasure，thantolieatthemercyoftherainandsunshinefortheenjoymentofaholiday:ineithercasewearenottolookforasuspensionofthelawsofnature."GrillwillbeGrill."VideSpenser.

IcouldnotbutsmileatthepromiseyoumakewithmeforprintingLloydspoemsfirst;butthereis[are]innature，Ifear，toomanytendenciestoenvyandjealousynottojustifyyouinyourapology.Yet，ifanyoneisweletopre-eminencefromme，itisLloyd，forhewouldbethelasttodesireit.Sopray，lethisnameuniformlyprecedemine，foritwouldbetreatingmelikeachildtosupposeitcouldgivemepain.Yet，alas!Iamnotinsusceptibleofthebadpassions.ThankGod，IhavetheingenuousnesstobeashamedoftheIamdearlyfondofCharlesLloyd;heisallgoodness，andIhavetoomuchoftheworldinmypositiontofeelmyselfthoroughlydeservingofhisfriendship.

LloydtellsmethatSheridanputyouuponwritingyourtragedy.IhopeyouareonlyColeridgeizingwhenyoutalkoffinishingitinafewdays.Shakspearewasamoremodestman;butyoubestknowyourownpower.

Ofmylastpoemyouspeakslightingly;surelythelongerstanzaswereprettytolerable;atleasttherewasonegoodlineinit，
