5:4WhenthouvowestavowuntoGod，defernottopayit;forhehathnopleasureinfools:paythatwhichthouhastvowed.

5:5Betterisitthatthoushouldestnotvow，thanthatthoushouldestvowandnotpay.

5:6Suffernotthymouthtocausethyfleshtosin;neithersaythoubeforetheangel，thatitwasanerror:whereforeshouldGodbeangryatthyvoice，anddestroytheworkofthinehands?

5:7Forinthemultitudeofdreamsandmanywordstherearealsodiversvanities:butfearthouGod.

5:8Ifthouseesttheoppressionofthepoor，andviolentpervertingofjudgmentandjusticeinaprovince，marvelnotatthematter:forhethatishigherthanthehighestregardeth;andtherebehigherthanthey.

5:9Moreovertheprofitoftheearthisforall:thekinghimselfisservedbythefield.

5:10Hethatlovethsilvershallnotbesatisfiedwithsilver;norhethatlovethabundancewithincrease:thisisalsovanity.

5:11Whengoodsincrease，theyareincreasedthateatthem:andwhatgoodistheretotheownersthereof，savingthebeholdingofthemwiththeireyes?

5:12Thesleepofalabouringmanissweet，whetherheeatlittleormuch:buttheabundanceoftherichwillnotsufferhimtosleep.

5:13ThereisasoreevilwhichIhaveseenunderthesun，namely，richeskeptfortheownersthereoftotheirhurt.

5:14Butthoserichesperishbyeviltravail:andhebegettethason，andthereisnothinginhishand.

5:15Ashecameforthofhismotherswomb，nakedshallhereturntogoashecame，andshalltakenothingofhislabour，whichhemaycarryawayinhishand.

5:16Andthisalsoisasoreevil，thatinallpointsashecame，soshallhego:andwhatprofithathhethathathlabouredforthewind?

5:17Allhisdaysalsoheeatethindarkness，andhehathmuchsorrowandwrathwithhissickness.

5:18BeholdthatwhichIhaveseen:itisgoodandelyforonetoeatandtodrink，andtoenjoythegoodofallhislabourthathetakethunderthesunallthedaysofhislife，whichGodgivethhim:foritishisportion.

5:19EverymanalsotowhomGodhathgivenrichesandwealth，andhathgivenhimpowertoeatthereof，andtotakehisportion，andtorejoiceinhislabour;thisisthegiftofGod.

5:20Forheshallnotmuchrememberthedaysofhislife;becauseGodanswerethhiminthejoyofhisheart.

6:1ThereisanevilwhichIhaveseenunderthesun，anditismonamongmen:

6:2AmantowhomGodhathgivenriches，wealth，andhonour，sothathewantethnothingforhissoulofallthathedesireth，yetGodgivethhimnotpowertoeatthereof，butastrangereatethit:thisisvanity，anditisanevildisease.

6:3Ifamanbegetanhundredchildren，andlivemanyyears，sothatthedaysofhisyearsbemany，andhissoulbenotfilledwithgood，andalsothathehavenoburial;Isay，thatanuntimelybirthisbetterthanhe.

6:4Forheethinwithvanity，anddepartethindarkness，andhisnameshallbecoveredwithdarkness.

6:5Moreoverhehathnotseenthesun，norknownanything:thishathmorerestthantheother.

6:6Yea，thoughheliveathousandyearstwicetold，yethathheseennogood:donotallgotooneplace?

6:7Allthelabourofmanisforhismouth，andyettheappetiteisnotfilled.

6:8Forwhathaththewisemorethanthefool?whathaththepoor，thatknowethtowalkbeforetheliving?

6:9Betteristhesightoftheeyesthanthewanderingofthedesire:thisisalsovanityandvexationofspirit.
